Broadcast Stations: Manual vs Automated scheduling methods

Recently I had a broadcast station PD ask about different methods they might use to insert their spot-load into a show; and although there are many ways this can be managed when using broadcast scheduling software (like Megaseg), it really will depend on two possible general approaches. One method uses your own automation system. The other method is a manual one. Both will be discussed here. The library itself - consists of 1006 complete shows. Each show consists of anywhere from 6 to 9 mp3 segments. NOTE: the shows each run for approx 48 minutes, leaving 12 minutes per hour for your spots.When inserting your spots MANUALLY - in this case it's assumed you will be using an audio editor like Garage Band. And in this case you would group all the segments together in series, adding your spots manually, and then rendering the combined audio out as a single file. NOTE: typically (once you have your system down) this should take you only about 15 minutes or so to complete. The MP3 segment files are all encoded at 44100 hz. We also have the library in a format where all segments are joined into a single file format, encoded at 22050 hz, in apple's ".mov" format. This version of the library is at half the audio quality used in the segmented versions, which was created for our 24/7 live stream of the show - featured on our website. Although we don't recommend this for broadcast, it could be used if desired (instead of the segmented versions).
